How Often Should You Shampoo? Let’s Talk Hair Care!

When it comes to shampooing, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. It all depends on your hair texture, lifestyle, and how much product you use daily. So, if you’re wondering, How often should I wash my hair?—you’re not alone!

Shampooing is the most important part of your styling process.

Understanding Your Hair Type & Shampoo Frequency

💡 Fine Hair? Shampoo More Often! Fine hair tends to get oily faster, meaning you may need to shampoo every day or every other day to keep it looking fresh and full of volume.

💡 Coarse or Thick Hair? Shampoo Less! Coarser hair textures hold onto moisture longer, so you can go a little longer between washes—sometimes up to 3-4 days!

💡 Curly Hair? Less is More! Curly hair thrives on natural oils, so over-shampooing can lead to dryness. Many of my clients with curls find that shampooing 2-3 times per week keeps their hair healthy and hydrated.

Why You Shouldn’t Skip Shampoo for Too Long

I usually tell my clients to aim for no more than 2 to 3 days between washes—and here’s why:

🌟 Product Build-Up Removal – Dry shampoo, hairspray, and styling products build up over time, making your hair look dull and lifeless.

🌟 Healthy Scalp, Healthy Hair – Your scalp is the foundation of healthy hair! A clean scalp promotes better hair growth and prevents irritation.

🌟 Nutrient Absorption – Your shampoo and conditioner contain key nutrients to nourish and strengthen your hair. If you go too long between washes, you’re missing out on their benefits!

🌟 Your Scalp Sheds, Just Like Skin! – Just like your face and body, your scalp sheds dead skin cells. If you don’t wash regularly, those cells build up, leading to clogged follicles and an itchy, unpleasant-smelling scalp. 🤢
